I have to say I feel I am completely “addicted” to nutrition being a health nut.  However, can anyone be addicted to something that is essentially good for you and is this a bad thing if you are? We got into the story of how thinking that any addiction is a “bad” thing as anything done to the extreme is too much.  Who said this? And why do we believe it? But honestly who came up with the idea, that too much is a bad thing.  Would one consider too much love is too much, or too much writing, learning, exploring, expressing, reading, nutrition… Addiction is a hard thing to move through when the body becomes addicted to something that causes stress on the body but the body can’t seem to move anyway from it because the addiction has completely taken control of the hormones, chemical response inside the body, and the attitude of the person will start to change.  Addiction, I believe is something that when the chemical processes of the body get out of “whack” due to over load of sugars, (which I truly believe is where everything starts) or chemical dependency, that the body cannot literally change to stop and its when the needing of outside “help” – retreat centers are encouraged to help the behavior or addiction to change.  Addiction is not something that becomes a passion…passion comes first….you can be “addicted” as in, the same response happens to you when you are about to do the thing you are passionate about…for instance, you get excited, your heart jumps a beat or flutters in anticipation, you may get sweaty, you can experience euphoria, but I believe even though these are similar experiences to what an addict goes through when they get their “fix” we “health nuts” are looked as addicted instead of curious, passionate about health and taking care of the body, exploring all realms of nutrition, and the biggest concern for me is learning to be more in the body and not away from my-self.

My husband literally rolls his eyes when the server comes over to the table to take our order, and I know he’s thinking, here she goes, what will she complicate this time…and I know this because he has told me thats what he thinks about my nutrition “ways”!  So for the general public eating out it’s “normal” to just pick something off the menu and eat as if it was ok for everyone…however, we are changing, food is changing, and not everything on the menu can be for everyone anymore.  Today we have a surplus of allergies that are coming up constantly, people are feeling ill and having no idea why they are feeling a certain way as their food/ eating patterns haven’t changed. Unfortunately, the doctors now a-days are literally just pill dealers.  Once you go into the doctors office for advice, help, and maybe an understanding of what is causing certain symptoms, you end up leave with a pill, and maybe occasional blood work.  So, these pills start to change the chemical process in the body, but I have to say that if your tummy is upset, bloated, unable to digest, uncomfortable, causing other symptoms of headaches, aches and pains throughout the body that are unexplained, maybe there is weight gain, weight loss, hair loss, so many more symptoms to say…but how is this pill going to be effective if it can’t be digested? Has anyone ever thought of that? Maybe this pill could actually help, and make a difference in making someone feel better, but if it isn’t going to be digested, then these pills are going to build up elsewhere in the body and release the chemical at different levels/stages through the body and may end up causing more disease, pain, irritation to the body.  Unfortunitly, this will start and repeat the cycle again by heading back into the doctors office stating the same confusion of not feeling well, but this time with the body loaded up with that pill that was given previously. Hoping nutrition will become a bigger concern and implemented in all doctors offices very soon.

Health and nutrition is something that is looked at as weird or ignored…however it seems that everyone is experiencing some kind of pain, uncomfortable body feelings, even fatigue….ordering at the restaurant should be a fun experience and creating something that works for everyone individually.  How about an a la carte menu? I understand the chefs that could be reading this are just thinking, no way could that ever work…things need to be planned out ahead of time in order to be efficient in a restaurant.  I do eat meat, (only 100%grass feed and organic) ((and mostly animals that are wild and have had a life of some sort…never eating an animal that was raised in a pen) Having an O blood type, being a skinny person, and blood deficient I need meat in my life to help maintain my health…but thats another conversation completely…..if I could have it a different way I totally would.  But back to the restaurant options, as eating clean at home, doesn’t seem like an option for most people with their busy work loads…I really believe we could work towards an a la carte menu at restaurants that had options of vegan, gluten-free, cow dairy free, nut free, and nightshades free.  I believe Chefs would actually love being more creative in the kitchen, and still begin able to have preparations ready for each order.  No more being looked at as the one that has to change their order because the options were already made-up.  Today, I believe there is not one person that can eat the same as another.  There is no ‘one diet’ that can work for everyone…finding what works for you is something that needs to be explored, journaled about, created, and having a coach or counselor to help you one on one is super helpful to not feel confused or alone.  Everyone wants to feel better in their bodies, sleep better, love better, feel more attentive, less brain fog, less fatigue, and all over comfortable in their clothes.  Food is our source of fuel, and what drives us to live, breathe, and continue this life we lead.  If we don’t have good, clean fuel, we can sputter out and even conk out.  Just as a car needs good clean oil and gas in order to run efficiently we need food and water to do the same.  We clean our cars’ exterior, interior, and oil changes are mandatory in order to keep it going, but isn’t weird that no-one thinks about cleaning out our pipes (our digestive tract) in order to keep on ticking? The build up is where disease, bugs, and parasites grow and form, and they then can spread to the blood stream, and beyond.  I really don’t think a “pill” of any form will help, especially when the take-over from the invaders of disease, and bugs, that have grabbed on…We need to clean up the diet, starve them of sugar and other chemical foods, and let them die, clean out the digestive tract, and become whole again..

My passion is strong as you can see, I can go off on tangents when talking about health and nutrition. I believe deep down no one wants to feed the fuel of the bugs/disease…just as you don’t want to harm your house/car/boat….you can the rusty patches before they get out of control, you clean the oil before they get gunked up, you can the salt water off the exterior to keep in from corroding.  Its time us health nuts to get looked at as wanting our bodies to be as clean as possible to be able to live without pain and suffering till we are ready to exit this world…My goal is to still be able to do yoga, and travel the world well in to my 80’s without feeling run down…..

Addicted ok yes for sure, but for all the right reasons…passionate, extremely,….and will keep ordering the gluten-free, cows milk free, nightshade free orders and will continue to see the rolls of the eyes from my husband or server, and accept and recognize that they may just not be educated or care about being healthy and really truly loving their bodies from the inside out.

I am starting my passion and heading back to school today Feb 1st!!! I have enrolled in a holistic nutrition program to become a certified holistic nutritionist.  I will continue to nurture others with massage, facials, waxing, and of course the infrared sauna for detox purposes is still on site.  Looking forward to making Jewel Wellness Spa a more well rounded detox and health based place to help heal from the inside out.

Love and Light to all,

Jen
