Detoxing is glorious if you have the right tools…But Have you ever felt like you are doing everything correctly and still feel worn out, and sluggish, and can’t understand how you feel you are doing everything right, you are still just downright confused on how to detox, clean yourself up and feel great again. Detoxing can be scary, confusing, or can be uplifting and motivating, its what you choose to listen to.

I am with you on this one!! I have been through and still going through something that has completely boggled my mind.  I have to say I am neurotic at keeping my body clean.  I have been the one as a kid that seemed to have weird symptoms and couldn’t figure out my challenges, and the aches, pains, tireless, sluggishness, and having something almost like a laziness.  However, when I was a kid I wasn’t eating well, nor did my parents know what was great for us or ‘eating for health’ was not a concept.  We ate like “everyone” else, fast food was normal, and there wasn’t much organic food talked about, let alone did we ever go to a farmers market, or even know there were such things out there.  We thought of them as hippies, if we saw a market on side of the road.  Funny, how far I have come to having a little education and realizing that we were just stuck in our heads on what we thought was “right” and “wrong”.

So, I am now in the midst of holistic nutrition school and will be taking the boards when I graduate.  I can’t get enough information about food and how to clean the body.  Being a massage therapist, esthetician, and certified yoga teacher, I want to clean up all aspects of the body so as we age, we age gracefully without a ton of pain and suffering.  I just kills me to see people in their mid 60’s even hunched over or having lots of different ailments effecting their health, when they mostly likely could have been cleared up earlier in life.  AND even in your 60’s, 70’s and 80’s you can always be cleaning out, detoxing the body, because everyday we re-tox by breathing, drinking, and just being.  (our body is constantly breaking down old dead cells and releasing free radials, that need to be detoxed out of our bodies just by living.) If we don’t have great elimination pathways in our bodies, or they become clogged, we get health challenges and then leading to different diseases…where then it’s time for the Doctors visit, and they mostly “treat” or put a bandaid on the present problem/issue that is happening at hand, but not recognizing that it comes from within.  Wishing that one day doctors will recognize that we need to clean up and clean out through detoxing the body to not have disease, instead of just treating the symptom that is in “pain” at the moment.

The confusing part is where do you start? And I say take it slow, your body got this way from years of use, eating habits, thinking habits, and the way we walk, talk, and what injuries we have had in the past.  Detoxing starts with mindfulness and thinking we are excited to detox and not thinking it is some hard way of living.  I live for detox everyday, and love how I feel. Living on Maui and opening my small wellness spa, center, Jewel, has helped me develop a place for people to come to start on their detox path.  I can facilitate working on the muscles and breaking down old scars to help open up the tissues to becoming more open to oxygen and blood.  Massage helps the body unwind, and not only let go of old holding patterns, but will help with blood circulation, and full body relaxation.  Something a lot of us don’t get on an daily basis. Next being an esthetician, I can help with detoxing the skin and allowing more life and vitality back into the cells for hydration and immune support, when the skin gets clogged so does our immune system, as it doesn’t have a way to expel unwanted toxins through sweating.  The infrared sauna is a huge help with the detox of heavy metals, asthma issues, blood pressure issues, anxiety, sleep disorders, the list goes on with the infrared sauna benefits.  Yoga helps the body open, stretch, quiet the mind, and allow for old patterns to be released.  I have to say its not easy all the time, and going through different parts of life when we have injuries, our bodies figure out a way to live and to function, so when we are unwinding these patterns it will typical hurt for a while, until the alignment gets back on track and the muscles can perform again.  As for nutrition, this is where I can falter as well.  I am overly sensitive to foods, and even though I know what to eat and how to eat, its still confusing, Right??? Alkaline, acidic, organic, natural, grass fed, 100% grass fed, (there’s a difference?) paleo, ketosis, Atkins, aruveda, holy cow, what is correct, where do I start, and it is way confusing for sure.

There is no right answer, we are all individuals trying to figure ourselves out…Just start somewhere, maybe its an infrared sauna session once a week for 3 months, and a few massages, and taking out the sodas, and alcohol.  Fried foods are extremely hard on our system, so that can be a good start, but, overdoing and taking out too many things all at once can shock the body as well and have a reaction that makes one think, this is terrible, I can’t do this. But, honestly its just change, and you can do it, the body wants to heal all the time, and when we give up the over stimulating chemicals from the sugars, fats, etc the body has to detox them out and it doesn’t feel that great sometimes.  I am here to support and will help heal the Jewel that you are, so you can shine bright and sparkle everywhere you go.  In a few months I will start taking clients that want to heal with nutrition, for a small fee until I become fully certified.  Looking forward to detoxing and loving our bodies at all stages we are in!

Be well and nurture your Jewell, inside as well as out.

Love and appreciation to you..

Jen
